A meeting held by the Honorable Minister, Fisheries Department, Uttar Pradesh, with the fishermen regarding various ongoing schemes related to the Fisheries Department.

Sultanpur 06 January/ During the visit of Nishad Party Supremo and Honorable Cabinet Minister Dr. Sanjay Kumar Nishad ji and Honorable MLA Sadar Jaisinghpur Raj Prasad Upadhyay in district Sultanpur today, a meeting was organized in the District Panchayat Auditorium under the Constitutional Fisherman SC Reservation Public Relations Campaign Sabha. Called upon the fishermen community of Sultanpur to reach Lucknow to ensure the participation of the fishermen community in the Mahajan Sabha organized by Nishad Party at Ramabai Ambedkar Rally Ground in Lucknow on January 2024. Shri Nishad ji said that the previous Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party governments have misled the fishermen community on the issue of fishermen reservation. When the Bahujan Samaj Party government comes to power in Uttar Pradesh, all the sub-castes of the fishermen community will be deprived of their rights. They are taken out of the SC category and put in the backward category and when the Samajwadi Party government comes, they are taken out of the backward category and put in the scheduled category.

He told that on the lines of Uttarakhand state, notification was issued by the government that the craftsman caste is a group of castes and not a caste. In the state of Uttar Pradesh too, a notification was to be issued that Majhwar caste is a group of castes and not a caste, but the previous Samajwadi Party government had issued a notification to all the fishermen community. By declaring the sub-castes as backward castes, the work was done to put them in the Scheduled Castes, due to which the issue of reservation has become more complicated.
Shri Nishad ji said that before and after independence, in the years 1931, 1941, 1951, 1961, 1971, 1981 and 1991, all the sub-castes of the fishermen community in the state of Uttar Pradesh were counted in Majhwar and Turaisha, but In order to exploit the fishermen community, the previous governments, without any amendment in the Parliament, removed all the sub-castes of the fishermen community from the Scheduled Castes and put them in the backward category and the previous governments have only played vote bank politics on this issue. Shri Nishad ji told that the State Government and the Honorable Chief Minister had written a letter to the RGI “Registrar General of India” regarding fishermen reservation, seeking information. In response to the letter, the RGI has said that in the state of Uttar Pradesh, Kevat, 17 castes including Mallah and Bind are sub-castes of the fishermen community.
Shri Nishad ji said that the fishermen community has never got the benefit of the schemes of the Fisheries Department, the previous governments have deprived the fishermen community of the schemes. Public welfare schemes like Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana, Chief Minister Matsya Sampada Yojana, Kisan Credit Card (in fisheries sector), Nishad Raj Boat Scheme, Fishermen Welfare Fund, Pradhan Mantri Fishermen Insurance Scheme are being run in the state, through which the fishermen community is directly benefited. But getting benefits.
While addressing the Nishad Party workers and fishermen present, Honorable MLA Sadar Jaisinghpur said that the benefits of the public welfare schemes being run by the Central and State Government for the Nishad community have reached widely. He said that Nishad community will continue to get the benefits of public welfare schemes in future also.
